Recently, X Social Group CEO Mr. Samuel Lam was invited to appear on Viu TV’s flagship program Homeland Explorer (國適通識). In a two-part interview, we took a deep dive into the current buzzword: the "Low-Altitude Economy." This was not just a dialogue about the future of an industry, but a profound reflection on how technology empowers both business and society.

Amidst the nation's vigorous push to develop the low-altitude economy, what exactly is Hong Kong’s role?

Our answer is clear: Hong Kong must not stop at being a "Super Connector"; we must aspire to be the "Standard Setter" and "Navigator" for this industry. At the same time, we firmly believe that the ultimate meaning of technology lies in people - using the "hard power" of tech to deliver the "warmth" of society.

I. Hardcore Strength: Being the "Standard Setter" of the Low-Altitude Economy

People often ask, why is Hong Kong the "Ultimate Proving Ground" for the low-altitude economy?

The answer lies in Hong Kong’s unique urban topography. We possess the world’s highest density of skyscrapers and an extremely complex electromagnetic environment. This means that if drone technology can operate stably in Hong Kong, it can fly anywhere in the world. While the Greater Bay Area (e.g., Shenzhen) has forged the finest "wings" (hardware manufacturing), Hong Kong’s responsibility is to establish internationally recognized flight standards and business models for these wings.

From "Gazing Up" to "Looking Down to Buy": The Mega Event Economy

Against the backdrop of the HKSAR Government’s push for the Mega Event Economy, drone shows should not merely be 15 minutes of visual entertainment. What we are doing is transforming performances over Victoria Harbour into "Aerial Billboards" and "Super IP Carriers."

Imagine this: While tourists are captivated by patterns in the sky, their phones simultaneously receive dining offers from the surrounding area; or when international fans travel to Hong Kong specifically to chase their favorite anime IPs. This converts 15 minutes of skyward gazing into a 5-hour real-world consumption chain after landing.

Safety is the Bottom Line, Data is the Core

The audience sees starlight; we focus on the data. To achieve zero errors in the complex environment of Victoria Harbour, we have established a "Drone Takeoff Reliability Index." This relies not on luck, but on the hardcore capability of RTK centimeter-level positioning and anti-interference technology.

Carrying this "Hong Kong Certification," we will help the nation's top-tier technology eliminate trust barriers and confidently enter markets in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and across the globe. We are exporting not just drones, but a comprehensive "Creative Storytelling + Safety Management" Hong Kong solution.

II. Humanistic Value: When Drones Meet Art Therapy

Technology is the body, while culture is the soul. In the second part of the interview, we discussed a softer topic—the warmth of technology.

Many perceive programming as cold lines of code. But in our view, drones are merely the paintbrush; the human heart is the canvas we most desire to touch.

When "1+1+1 > 3": The Birth of Artopia

Recently, X Social Group launched the IP Artopia charity project, uniting Hong Kong Baptist University and charitable organizations. This is not just a cross-sector collaboration; it is an experiment in "Technological Empowerment."

We transformed drawings by sick children or those with special needs into 3D light formations over Victoria Harbour. I will never forget the light in the children's eyes at the scene. In that moment, they were no longer confined by their bodies or environments; their dreams flew freely in the sky, soaring higher and shining brighter than anyone else’s. This reaffirmed our belief: High technology should not be aloof; it should reach down to warm those who need it most.

Paving the Runway for the Future of Youth

Beyond charity, we are dedicated to talent cultivation. The future of the low-altitude economy requires a vast number of "pilots," route planners, and creative talents. We teach children not just how to operate drones, but also programming logic, spatial geometry, and teamwork. We are building a reservoir of future "sky talents" for the Greater Bay Area, equipping Hong Kong's youth with the keys to unlock the low-altitude era.

Conclusion: Hong Kong as the "Contemporary Curator" of Chinese Culture

From the commercial ambition of setting international standards to the social care of lighting up the dreams of children with special needs, X Social Group is committed to building bridges.

The sky has no borders, and neither should our society. We hope that future drone shows can become a "Social Wishing Well" for the city. Through technical training, we can promote social mobility, allowing people from diverse backgrounds to share in the dividends of technology under the same sky.

We thank VIUTV  for the invitation. Let us witness the soaring success of Hong Kong’s low-altitude economy together, using technology to tell China's stories well and to transmit the warmth of our society.
