SCMP - Drone Show Need More Creativity, Fewer Rules

[24th Sept 2024] South China Morning Post (SCMP) features an insightful interview with Samuel Lam, highlighting the remarkable brand value of drone light shows. This innovative market has rapidly evolved from a niche interest into a formidable player in the global entertainment sector.

The drone light show industry, once deemed negligible, has experienced explosive growth, achieving a market valuation of $219.2 million in 2022. Projections indicate a dramatic increase to $1.67 billion by 2031. According to the "2022 Insights Report," the popularity of drone light shows surged significantly, with 7,228 performances recorded in 2021 alone. These aerial displays not only captivate audiences but also create unique advertising opportunities, showcasing brand logos against the stunning backdrop of iconic locations such as Victoria Harbour.

Beyond their advertising potential, drone shows have emerged as a vital cultural phenomenon and a key indicator of a city’s cultural tourism development. The Hong Kong Tourism Board reported an impressive influx of 3.92 million visitors in July 2024, with over 90% of attendees affirming that drone shows significantly enhance their experience and stimulate related economic activities.

"We are honored to be one of the stakeholder to participate in the grand fireworks and drone display commemorating the 75th National Day at Victoria Harbour. Our commitment is to deliver innovative and captivating performances that celebrate this historic occasion and contribute to Hong Kong's vibrant cultural landscape." Stated Samuel Lam
